Politics Vs People

Just an experience I had today.. Errors in society or OUR own culture.. Now, THAT is still in question!

It was mid noon, considerably sultry and the setting was in a public bus. The ticket checker was seated at the rear end of the bus, chatting with the driver and forgetting his duty. Eve's dropping is not what I do, but since he was being very strident, it's palpable that I over heard the uninterrupted, futile talk.
"Did you see who the ruling authority in the government is again??” the conductor chirped. The driver in a rather nasal inflection replied with the combination of a few verbal abusives..."Yeah, how does it matter to us anyway, it's their life, their money and their government." Just then the bus comes to a screeching halt and there goes the traffic signal on the busy junction. Boys, younger to me, run through the bus selling the evening daily’s all in a matter of 60 seconds!! In that interval, an auto rickshaw driver and a motorist intervened in the talk amid the two bus authorities. The signal was only sometime away... I counted, 10...9…8... And so on, and these people started arguing to a topic, which they supposedly said, wasn’t their concern. Despite the busy roads, the signal going off, the sound of vehicular honks and frustration in the air, the vehicles get to be comfortably parked in the main road, and the discussion of who should be the ruling authority JDS or BJP? And whether they should have formed a co-alition government rents the air. The traffic police stood in an invisible portion, of the busy roads... blissfully sipping off some tender coconut water, under the shade of gulmohars. He waved at the vehicles to move their ways, but did nothing more.. The dispute sustained and the apprehension was immense. Some of them in the bus, joined too. And some citizens like me couldn’t do a thing but get frustrated and curse the futile nature of these people. Arguing with them, would have become a greater issue, from disturbance cases being booked, to lawyers and courts! Who would want them any way!

For something as religiously political as this, the societies have to take an initiative. Choosing our leaders is our choice, but darning them is their own. A tiny thought struck me, that moment.

The conductor, never bothered to check tickets and pick out the unlawful travelers out of the bus, instead, he began to talk about an issue which had already ran out of the headlines and something, he could absolutely do nothing about that instance!

The driver, on the other hand, was more bothered with the talk of “NOT” his government, but still his family’s. He had skipped signals, stagnated traffic and caused more of a noise pollution than anything of a sensational debate!!

The auto rickshaw driver and the motorist (please note, without a helmet. So I doubt, if he even had a license… Coz’ we never know! They may censure anything from the usual “My dog ate my license” to... “Blame my old age sir, I just could not remember.”) It was none of their business to mind what negotiations were in session, though it might be a social concern, BEFORE the incident in talk, particularly occurred.

Next is our conscientious police man. They are on replacement duties too. So what was the urgency to have a drink and gather shade when subliming the blocked traffic was his duty?.. (Duty comes when we take an initiative, personally... That grows to responsibility, when we really care for our job!)

I wouldn’t blame the passengers, myself! Because instead of wanting others to break out these facts, I could have personally undertaken the task myself. Nervousness, lack of devotion to the society (not religion.), absolutely no responsibility and obviously.. No road sense! :D

It’s craziness this century!

Why I write?

Well, everytime I said, "I wanna be a writer, please." I didn't realise, there was a good chance I already was!!
Books, have always been my close associates, my faithful companions.. (That includes no bitching behind my back, i'm very glad about that.), my lovely guidance and of course, a source of entertainment (for me.) That was all basically a summation of it.

I absolutely love talking. My skill and virtue include, talking one's head off! Though, i don't always find a scape goat to listen to all my wisdom, i find something better.. How about writing?? Some means of communication! Even if it's just a paper.
Another reason, is to express opinions. It's human tendency to comment or condemn (as the case may be) and it's humane to be truthful and express. Most importantly, It's to release my emotions, frustration and anger (considering how hot-headed i really am). It enables me to capture some of the deepest sensations and percieve it thoroughly.. It's therapeutic and most often satisfying, when it reaches expectations.
When a word is spoken, it might be heard at the time, but with time, it fades away and a repetition may turn a deaf ear, even.
Being a kid, describing occasions, letting your heart flutter with it's exercise of emotions.. Haaa! That confidence remains with books alone... My soul trustee and my confidante! More over, i tend to comment and argue a LOT. (I try not to hurt any one, i most often don't, but in case i end up doing just that.. It gets me all worked up and gains me the opponent's rivalry.) So.. When i write about something, or speak my views, the book won't argue RIGHT BACK! It doesn't make me impatient and in course impudent!
This was just a nick knack.. Coz i really wanted to write something, right away!!

FRIDAY NIGHT ISN’T PARTY TIME……..!

Forward---->>> Back again!! This piece of work belonged to my golden school days.. I was really worked up and bored even before the weekend, so i sat up to write this on a Friday night..

I know what you might be thinking.. That i must be jobless to WRITE instead of PARTY! But well, I'm no slave to partying.. I am to writing.. But the title's a tribute to my one time favorite song, "Friday night is party time." --> Las Ketchup!

P.s - The characters are totally fictional! And i didn't intend any offense to the teachers! It's just my imagination running wild! So here it goes.

It can’t be yet another lazy Sunday night story ….well it’s at least quite close to reality.

I slept that dreadful Friday night with no sleep in my eyes except drops of perspiration. I was waiting for the sand man to drop that extra grain of sand in my eyes so I could catch a wink of sleep. The last thing on my mind that night was school. It was nothing scary but quite weird. Guess what I dreamt of……?! TEACHERS! So well there were no classes and stuff but just creepy, funny and wacky things.

There were some pretty weird grown-ups living there but could they be legendary creatures hiding under ordinary skins was my only fear.

It was lunch and I found myself conversing with my buddies. There had been a new teacher at school and she definitely looked creepy. We could feel her peering down at us flashing her green eyes. A polka-dotted bandana around her neck was pinned with the big brooch she always wore, and her red hair was tied with a green ribbon. She lived in the close by mansion which was said to have belonged to a mysterious man whom nobody had any idea about. His strange disappearance had brought the mansion down to auction and there we have it…..Ms. Jeepers Creepers had bought it!!

The one thing quite strange about her was that she loved bats! How creepy could that possibly get! And so we thought she had been one as she definitely looked like their Queen!

We never knew when she would have us for a main course of her meal. She had even organized a trip to the caves and our idea had been that she was going to serve us to her relatives on a silver tray with ketchup!! The other day she had invited us over for Halloween. It had been one uncanny feeling. She’d invited her friends who were quite strange as well. Some eerie sights met my eyes.

There were few of them dressed in black, with long white incisors which looked really spine-chilling. They called themselves vampires and what’s more they were all dressed just like Ms. Jeepers! Oh well, may be they were just her ‘close’ relatives. They were dressed in polka dots ….but I reassured myself.’ Vampires don’t wear polka dots!’. There were a few transparent things which looked like ghosts and they were consuming a whole lot of potato chips. That made me say ‘ghosts don’t eat potato chips!’ or I would’ve seen their digestion processes!

There were some green foul things which I saw as well. They called themselves aliens and they had silver rings on their yellow teeth….oh! aliens cant wear braces could they??!

What do you call those people who sail and plunder ships? Aha! Yes! Pirates. I saw a horde of them wearing pink sunglasses, like they were having an off-shore party in the Bahamas! Have you ever heard of pirates wearing pink sunglasses!! Noways! I saw those one of those angels who shoot arrows ….umm..cupid! I found them flipping hamburgers! And not to forget things like gremlins chewing bubble gum! Elves were wearing hats, draculas were drinking lemonade, dragons were cooking pizzas, big foots were square dancing, knights were playing the piano, ghouls were scooping ice-cream and Cyclopes were ball dancing!! Imagine all these things in a small place called brain!

I began feeling a little uncomfortable and I was close to slipping out of the huge teak doors when the clock struck 12. but to my surprise I was being surrounded by all those

Night creatures who had been boogying the night away.

My hands were sweaty and I was cold , drops of perspiration were embedded on my fore head like pearls . I snapped my eyes wide open……..and heaved a sigh of relief.

I’d just realized this was a dream. If this were to be true…………….

An Ode to my Alma mater.. PRESIDENCY..

This poem, I denied to write it, but ended up doing a good job overnight.. It's been something very dear to my heart, Just like what Presidency has always been for and to me. Won me laurels and now royally nailed on the walls of Presidency.. :) It made my graduation night an extra special day to remember.

So here it goes, Something i could write about my school, and the great memories that came with it..

There is no future good enough
For what we hope to be,
Nor world with windows wide enough
For what we hope to see.

Yet when we turn to compromise
for the dreams which we have made,
we will glimpse behind a memory
which can never fade.

Our school, our Alma mater;
We bid adieu to you with a tear,
this will be the one to remember,
Something that we’ll cherish forever.

Here is our Alma mater,
To which we hold nothing greater;
It adds to our solemn nature
And shows our mighty stature.

In your love and strong solicitude embody
All your expertise and dedication;

Under your good guidance - hope survives,
And so does our aspiration.

Our Alma mater nourishes more than one mind;
I
lluminating from within,
Making many a multitude combine,
Rather it has refined:
Every soul which would have a dream to shine.

Thank you for your love throughout the years.
All your plans, hopes and even fears;
Know that we are grateful for your love,
And your gracious kindness, just like the one above.

The wall !!

A tribute to my senior, Green house captain at Presidency and blah -- Bharath Naidu.
Apparently i was staring at the wall when he came up with the idea of a blog, and the topic of a wall. Brilliant, i must admit. I mustered up all my courage to ask him to dwindle his decision, but in vain. He wouldn't budge an inch. So here goes, nothing!

Usually, the definition of a wall, may go this way.. Something solid, a protection and the support for a super structure..Guys, a wall doesn't really mean the plastered brick -cement combo. It could be anything.. Uterine walls, Intestines, fruits.. Seeds.. GOSH! Enough.. I know.. It's going way ward! But if you've just noticed, everything from a tiny seed to the shelter of a human has a wall!
(I came up with a good theory!) Let's take a human example. As a little fetus, it wouldn't succumb to anything but darkness and protection, but once it's time for it to see the world, it's on it's own.. No protection.. Just left to be the ultimate ordeal. Something like, Me Vs the world! uha.. Correction, the WHOLE world! As the child starts to see the difference, it notices something.. The world is not always blossoms and sunshine, it replicates darkness .. Like what it had already seen, but now, fails to remember. From childhood into the brink of a confused adolescence, It's rather still the same. You are on your own.. Anything can happen, anytime, and any where.. And so, something greater steps in, Parents and .. Education! The parents start with.. "No, that's not the way you do it.." Suddenly you realize, "PROTECTION".. That'll chime some bells in the nick of time, might sound like.. "aha! Liberty, freedom and enfranchisement" (At 1st..) Everything is happy, and you feel you have someone who can stand by you, not for now.. But always.. But slowly, the quality of NOT depreciates and grows into irritation. To avoid that, parents introduce us to something called education..Something to note here, they STEP aside to let us be influenced by the latter. Here the wall, grows mightier and stronger, and it blocks everything out.. A certain part of it remains unblocked, getting out of the darkness, we aspire to achieve that light.. and that is Opportunity. Education teaches to learn and be.. to do and face THE wall !! (Which has soo carefully been constructed as a beneficiary), rather advantageous i must say. So, the next stage is, out of the confused teenage into dangerously responsible adulthood. You become the super structure for this wall to support. Instead of facing the wall here, we begin to simply climb it, Overcoming hurdles,Getting preached from the smallest incidents and anecdotes to narrate, paying more attention to due dates and not the "DATES" (you know what i intend)..Realising that we may not be eligible for the Grammy's or the Oscars but we are rather eligible to attain great satisfaction from the smallest pleasures of life. Becomes more complex, and slowly intends you to develop one.
Parents are happy, your well off and the education still supports you with career and the opportunities open a door for you till where you have mustered to climb the wall. Earning well, spending even better, Saving a little, thinking you might dupe of responsibilities of a family of your own by indulging in your choice of work and proclaiming celibacy and chastity as your very own mantra vowing to enjoy your life being a bachelor or a spinster (as the case might be), till parents step into the picture in the name of marriage, planning to shatter your chaste vows. You rebel they black mail. (something, which the modern society seems to have taught a lot. From politicians to industrialists!) You surrender and they see you happily married off.. Their responsibilities are done, but yours.. Just begins! You've got to plan to keep the wall stable so it doesn't collapse with time and also build upon it. Children, savings, spouse, work, network, fashion, health, entertainment, and THE WALL becomes your deal in life.. Gradually, you cope with the deal, make a mark, and make a move.. Beginning to descend down the wall you've climbed to support your child with what you have managed so well to get.. so you can give.
So there goes our Wall theory, it persists and yet continues... From the Uterine walls to the endless possibilities.

My vision suddenly becomes stable, i seem to take a good deep breath and return to the ultimate stage of consciousness!! I gradually snap from what delirious hallucination I've just had.. and realize that there's nothing but a weird poster of a band playing on the wall, with a pastel back drop and some cracks here and there.. And wait! An ant.. Aww.. Suddenly the sight of the ant climbing the wall begins to look more attractive! Endless possibilities to imagination, the ant impressed me, all thanx to the might wall theory!

That's all i could write!!
